Labour, Business, Faith and Community Group Statement in Support of Syrian Refugees

10 December 2015 - The Syrian refugee crisis has left more than four million people desperately seeking safety. It is a humanitarian crisis of monumental proportions, one which Canada has a responsibility to act on as quickly as possible.

We are representatives of Canadian unions, businesses, community and faith groups, united to welcome 25,000 Syrian refugees to Canada and committed to playing a role in supporting their resettlement.

Conditional Permanent Residence: Failure in Policy and Practice

Three years after the introduction of Conditional Permanent Residence for some sponsored spouses, the Canadian Council for Refugees (CCR) concludes that the measure has increased the vulnerability of many sponsored newcomers, particularly victims of domestic violence.  The CCR bases its conclusion on consultation with over 140 organizations across Canada.
